Mount Shasta and into So Oregon...
What a beautiful drive we had this afternoon. Still on I-5 North, we passed through the Mount Shasta area. As we climbed into the beautiful conifers, we both came alive. We’d really missed the big trees, and the color of green.
However, we did climb some rather serious hills today. But they are only practice for the Rockies. Big Dog, as we call our GMC truck, did fine in the mountains.
We stopped for ‘lunch’ about 3:30 in the Black Bear Diner. For anyone traveling through this area we would recommend the diner, the menu is diverse, and servers are very cordial, and yes, the food was excellent also.
Tonight we’re in Holiday RV Park in Phoenix, OR. Another first, we received little bite size Snickers candies, and homemade (yes, I said homemade) cookies as we checked into the park. There are many mature trees, so almost every site has shade at least some part of the day. Temperatures dropped while we were in the mountains, but climbed again as we dropped into the Rogue Valley. It was about 85 at 6PM.
Tomorrow was supposed to be a tourist day. We’d planned to drive to Crater Lake. I was there as a child, and really wanted Sal to see it also. But plans often do, ours have changed. We have been either traveling, running to tourist spots, or visiting with family since we left home. Although I’m sure we’ll be sorry later, we’ve decided to just stay in camp tomorrow and rest. Maybe we’ll even get the photo filing caught up!
Thanks for sticking with us…
Fay

Beautiful pictures! I would LOVE to travel in that part of the country. My job takes me to the Northwest corner of WA states at times, and it is AMAZING.
Enjoy your down day. You do need to rest every now and then.
