Paso Robles and Monterey Bay
Well, we’ve had six beautiful days in Paso Robles. First and foremost we visited my sisters, and thoroughly enjoyed the visit. As always when visiting people you love, the stay is too short. But all good things must come to an end sometime.
We did take one day and drive up the coast to Monterey. We went up on 101, and returned on Highway 1. What a ride!!! We met ourselves going and coming on the switchback curves. But what an awesome view! Although we lived in Ventura County many years ago, we had forgotten how much we enjoyed the Pacific and it’s breezes. Additionally, it had been many years since we had taken that ride up the coast to Monterey. You can't compare the Monterey Bay area to any other part of the Pacific Ocean.
We also stopped in Pfeiffer State Park to see those great trees!!! The first one in the post in one which had partially burned. It is hollow inside the trunk base, but is still green and growing. Sal is standing inside the trunk in the first shot posted here.
The Paso Robles area is very pretty. Many vineyards, and all are perfectly manicured. So even if you are not a wine drinker, the vineyards are beautiful.
We stayed in the Wine Country RV Park, and would give it an A+. The facilities are all very clean and well maintained, and the view from our site was overlooking one of those well kept vineyards. The building behind our site is the Firestone Vineyard.
We’re back on the road tomorrow. Next stop Dunnigan, CA. Sorry we haven’t posted much in the past few days, we’ll try to do better. Thanks for traveling with us…
Fay
