Well, today is another travel day. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed our visit with Sal’s brother and his wife. But I’m sure they are glad to see us leave, as they are both very early risers, and we’ve kept them up past their bedtime for weeknights. But we had a great time, and are sorry we didn’t have more time to catch up.
Just one little mishap in the past few days… We did some sight seeing in Santa Paula yesterday. It’s about 15 miles inland from our beach RV park. So of course, we didn’t have the wind that is almost constant on the beach. When we returned to our site, we found our awning flopping in the wind. The strut on one side had freed itself from the trailer, and the braces were completely loose and on the ground. But as is the RV custom, another camper jumped in to help, and he and Sal had it back in place in just a few minutes. Fortunately, no broken or bent arms, and no tears in the awning. PHEW!!! The RV Gods are with us on this trip…
But we should note that the gentlemen who jumped in to help us had completely lost his awning. It not only came free from the rig, but ripped to ruin.
I mentioned sight seeing, we toured Santa Paula where I grew up. The high school looks the same. But that’s about all that has not changed. Unfortunately most of the changes are bad.. It looks pretty run down. But Ventura where we last lived before heading to Upstate NY is still a nice city, although much bigger and busier than we remember it to be. It was fun to reminisce about our younger days. But we wouldn’t want to come back to live here again.
Thanks for traveling with us…
Fay
