Today was an uneventful day. We left St Charles about 9:30, and arrived in Topeka by 3:00. We encountered very little construction, only a couple of lane closures.
We did see lots of tasseled corn fields, and several cattle ranches. But then this is Kansas…
Sal was finally able to upload some photographs today, primarily of our departure from home, and then each campground or RV Park we’ve stayed in thus far.
We arrive in Oklahoma City tomorrow, and will probably not post as often for the next week. We will be spending time with family and friends.
By the way, the reference in the title tonight to the Wizard of Oz is close to home for us. We live within 15 miles of the hometown of L. Frank Baum, the author of the Wizard of Oz. Chittenango, where he was born, still has an annual Wizard of Oz weekend, with a parade, and many family events. Thereare some munchins from the original movie still living, and they attend the event each year.
And on a lighter note for today, when we arrived in tonight's campground, we were greeted by three free range chickens. They seem to be the greeting committee for all new arrivals. A couple pulled next to us from Texas, one of the chickens hopped up on their steps and tried to get into their 5er.
Thanks for traveling with us…
Sal & Fay
