On the road again...in Texas

On the road again…We left Oklahoma City about 9:30 this morning. It was difficult to leave family behind. But we had a great week with them, and look forward to the next time. But we both decided we needed to get back on the road to rest. They ran us ragged in their enthusiasm to show us Ok. City!!!

Tonight we’re in a new RV Park just west of Amarillo. It just opened in March. If you are a Texan who loves the Texas plains, you would say it is beautiful. Since we’re accustomed to lots of trees, we see it through different eyes. But it is a very, very nice park. The roads are all paved; the sites are concrete, and perfectly level. There is Texas landscaping between the sites. The restrooms are wonderful. There are three separate buildings scattered around the park. Each one has private restrooms, just like home; with shower, sink and ‘potty’ behind a closed door. There is also a laundry room in each building. Now here’s the kicker. Have you ever stayed in a campground or RV park where the laundry facilities are free? You get it here, and just in time, because I needed to do laundry. All of the buildings are air conditioned, including the laundry room.

Ok, now you want to know where we are. It’s called the Oasis RV Resort, Amarillo, TX. It’s one of the “Jewels of I-40”; a group of RV Parks along I-40 who strive to be a cut above the rest. Our park in Ok. City was a member of this elite group also. We would highly recommend the Oasis, just as we did the Twin Fountains.

Today’s travels were uneventful. It was hot, and windy. But then we are in the Texas Panhandle Plains. Temps were in the high 90’s, up to 100 all day.

We needed to stock up on salads fixings and bottled water, and fortunately we saw a Walmart just off the interstate BEFORE we got to the RV Park. So we didn’t need to unhook. We’ll be back on the road in the morning.

Meantime, we’ll post a couple of photos. One of the Texas state line, and one of a cross we saw just off I-40 which is supposed to be the largest cross in the western hemisphere.
And of course, pics of the Oasis…

Oh, and we saw an Outback TT today. It was just a few miles east of Amarillo, heading east. We saw it around 2:30PM. Was it you? It’s only the second Outback we’ve seen since we left Upstate NY on 7/27.

Thanks for traveling with us. Let us hear from you.
Fay
